Don’t Get Left Behind In The Business World – 5 Tips That Could Help You

You know the saying: ‘out with the old and in with the new?’ Of course you do, everyone does. The real question is, how and when do you apply that in business?

Lets face it, the way it was always done is not always the best way. If we want to keep up with our competitors we have to be willing to adapt, update and change. I know change can be scary, but what is even scarier is seeing your numbers drop and your business getting left behind.

by 2030, 50% of the US workforce will be millennials. For those of you who don’t know what a millennial is, it is anyone born between the year of 1980 and 1995.

What does that mean for us? It means our businesses should be evolving just like the workforce.

Here are 5 simple things you can do to start updating your business.

1 Get rid of those cubicles.

Making your office space more open will help employees communicate more, be more motivated, and it gives the overall office a more energetic feeling. For some office layout ideas check out Jessica Stillman 10 office designs tips to foster creativity.

2 Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Pintrest Google Plus, LinkedIn etc.

Make sure your business has all social media platforms! And update them daily. Social media is one of the strongest forms of advertising, and it is so much cheaper than your traditional forms of advertising. Make sure you are taking advantage of it!

3 Save the trees!

If you are not already using a paperless system for your company, then you should probably do so soon. You can cut down on so much time and mistakes by taking advantage of the digital area.

4 Set the tone.

All these changes can be scary for your employees, some people get intimidated by change. You can set the tone of excitement and positivity.

5 Goals and Rewards.

Set goals and reward people when they are met, it doesn’t have to be a huge reward, just a small incentive that gets people excited! It is fun and it works!

These are just a few of many ways you can update your workplace. If you are in the process of evolving your business and have some ideas I didn’t list here, email me or leave me a comment. I’d love to hear your ideas.
